Dancer, drummer, artist, gardener, and goddess worshipper:
Brandi Mizilca has been immersing herself in music, movement, and rhythm her entire life. She is best known for her long and accomplished career of several decades as a performing and touring dancer, but has also been playing various instruments in bands since she was a teenager and currently plays in Chikomo Marimba.
Brandi Mizilca has been formally studying percussion with River Guerguerian and other world class percussion teachers for 25 years and works with local organization, Asheville Rhythm, hosting all kinds of percussion events. She carries on the Asheville Rhythm approach to frame drumming while also bringing to it her decades of experience as a movement instructor, thereby centering rhythm in the body and allowing it to simply extend from there through the drum.
This three-hour workshop is a for female and female-identifying humans to explore the art of playing frame drums from both a technical and intuitive perspective. You are invited to break centuries of silence by making beautiful, bold sound with other wyrding women.
Drums can be provided for the workshop if needed.
