Celebrating Olatunji's Legacy in Asheville 2024

Celebrating Olatunji's Legacy in Asheville 2024 is a roaming drum pilgrimage, an open gathering of drummers, dancers, singers to bring attention and celebration of Babatunde Olatunji's influence on the modern drum community, as well as his legacy of activism and social justice werk.

This is an OPEN DRUM Circle to celebrate Babatunde Olatunji and the drum as an instrument of peace. Learn some songs, rhythms, and maybe a few dance moves of Fanga. Join us for the day (bring snacks, water, instruments. we will grab some food together for dinner)

Noon-3pm - LEAF Global, 19 Eagle Street
5-5:30 - Weaving Rainbows, 62 Wall Street
6:30-9:30 - The Well, 3 Louisiana Ave.

This drum pilgrimage is facilitated by Mz. imani, in collaboration with Adama Dembele at LEAF Global Arts, Weaving Rainbows + The Well.

Join the pilgrimage to build community and drum with ones who want to celebrate Baba! Gather to Drum Dance + Chant for Peace. Hear some of Olatunji's Legacy, thru the stories of his early days in Asheville with Mz. imani and Friends.
