About Us

Jim Genaro

Jim is a musician, artist, and event producer who has been heavily involved in the arts community of Asheville since the mid 1990s.

He is the cofounder and Creative Director of Surreal Sirkus, a performance art troupe that incorporates elements of ritual, theater, and circus arts, best known for their annual Halloween festival in downtown Asheville.

Under his musical moniker, Logos, Jim has written and produced seven albums that fuse electronic sounds with live instrumentation. He specializes in analog synthesizers and has worked at Moog Music for over a decade.

Jim also was one of the founders of The Landing, an urban community in West Asheville, and started The Auricle, a community temple devoted to practices related to spirituality, sound, and music.

His interests include sound healing, sacred geometry, ceremonial magick, and the intersection of theater and ritual. He studied meditation and regression therapy with Dr. Samuel Sagan at the Clairvision School in Sydney, Australia, in the early 2000s.

Karen Genaro

Karen studied bodywork, reiki and trauma release at The Whole You School of Massage and Bodywork in Rutherfordton NC and is a longtime practitioner of a number of healing arts. She mainly works with a unique style of energetic reading and repatterning.

Karen doesn’t think much about her identity but if forced to do so she identifies as a medium and a resident of the crossroads. She has developed a deep relationship with the Tarot and is a student of the I Ching, and intertwines these and other systems of divination with a physical binary sensitivity to access uncommon levels of consciousness. It is an art that is very unlike traditional cleromancy.

Karen’s areas of interest include:

Plant Magic and Medicine.

She studied Clinical Herbalism at the Eclectic School of Herbal Medicine with Thomas Easley and friends in North Carolina and Energetic Folk Herbalism with Jim McDonald in Michigan, but has learned even more informally by spending time with specific plant teachers.

Karen is also a writer, performance artist and Fortune Teller with the Surreal Sirkus. She is absolutely devoted to her family. She is an attendant to a chorus of frogs and a Most Ancient Pug, and may or may not be a secret clarinetist.
